Eugene F. Bartley, Jr.
Chairman and CEO, Bozell Group

Gene Bartley joined Bozell in New York as General Manager in 1987. Gene assumed the role of President, New York Operations in 1994 and subsequently was appointed President, North America in April 1998 and Vice Chairman in April. He now becomes Chairman and CEO. Since his arrival, Gene has been a significant contribution to the expansion of the agency. Billings have more than doubled during his tenure.

While managing this period of growth, Gene has also helped broaden the range and variety of Bozell's clients. Today the roster includes packaged goods, food products, over-the-counter and prescription drugs plus media and technology companies in addition to the agency's traditional strength in categories such as insurance, financial services and automobile products.

Gene was also a major architect of the strategic evolution as President, Bozell North America, overseeing the shift from a traditional advertising orientation to far greater emphasis on combining and integrating agency resources to serve client needs.

Now, as Chairman and CEO, Gene's responsibilities include overseeing the following Bozell Group offices: Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Mountain View, New York, Omaha and Seattle.

Prior to joining Bozell, Gene's experience included senior management and account management positions at three agencies: he was an Executive Vice President, Group Account Director at D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and had earlier been President of the D'Arcy New York Office; he served as President of Cadwell Davis Partners; at Saatchi & Saatchi Compton, where he spent twelve years, Gene was the youngest member ever elected to the Board of Directors. When he left the agency in 1983, he was a Senior Vice President, Managing Director having worked primarily on Procter & Gamble brands.

Gene is a member of the National Advertising Review Board, the Better Business Bureau and the 4A's Large Agency Committee. He earned a B.A. from Manhattan College in New York and an M.B.A from Suffolk University in Boston. He and his wife Chris live in Westchester County, New York. They have two sons, Gene and Ryan.
